Reflections of Remembrance (追憶の反映)

Reflections of Remembrance is the new series I'm working on. Each painting is a moment in my life. Something that made me become the person I am today.

For years already I've been thinking that I should write my Memories, but I gave myself a lot of excuses why I shouldn't (I'm too young, as if I had something interesting to tell, etc). But my coach told me something that keeps creeping inside my head: 'Someday you will die and then, you won't be able to create anything else. Your time will have passed'.

So I think I'd rather start doing whatever I feel inclined about now, don't wait until I'm older and more experienced, because when that happens I will have less time left.

This is a list of the key moments that came to my mind when I asked myself 'If I could tell my life in only 10 events, which ones would I choose?' (Keeping the list shorter was impossible)

  • I was 4, maybe 5 years old when I swallowed a whole, round, big candy; and it got stuck in my throat... I couldn't breathe, I couldn't yell... and I was alone...
  • I wanted a house with a big garden, a bathtub, and a whole room just for myself... what did I get?
  • Destiny struck: the Kendo Club
  • No plan, no means, just trust: going on a trip knowing I had no way to come back.
  • And so I learned that I make my own life in my own terms: the blinding light in the night and the ninja.
  • A letter to destiny.
  • A backpack with my whole universe. (To get everything I want I have to leave behind everything I have)
  • I can't live like this anymore. Tonight the story is different.
  • The jacarandas became sakura.
  • The most handsome and perfect being in the universe and the speechless me.
  • A lot of pain can become infinite love.
  • The black swallowtail.
  • A house with 5 rooms and a garden with a sakura tree.

Please look forward to this series, with each painting I will write the whole story behind it.
